ಮಾವಿನಕಾಯಿ ಗೊಜ್ಜು | Raw Mango Curry | Mavinakayi Gojju | Quick Side dish | Gojju Recipe


Ingredients:  

(1 cup = 180 ml)

  • Raw Mango (chopped) - 2.5 cups
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds / Methi / Menthya - 1/4 tsp
  • Red Chillies (broken) - 2 
  • Curry leaves
  • Jaggery (crushed) - 1 cup
  • Rasam Powder - 2 tsp
  • Water - 2.5 cups
  • Salt - as per taste

Preparation:

  1. Peel and chop the raw mango. Keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds and methi.
  3. Mustard seeds splutters and methi turns golden brown.
  4. Add broken red chilles and curry leaves. Saute.
  5. Add chopped raw mangoes and saute for 2 mins. 
  6. Add salt and mix well.
  7. Add 2 cups water and cook till the mangoes soften.
  8. Once the mangoes soften, add rasam powder and crushed jaggery (add jaggery as per desired taste). Mix well.
  9. Cook for 10 mins till the Curry thickens.
  10. Add 1/2 cup water and adjust the consistency. Gojju / Curry should be of thick consistency.
  11. Cook for 2 mins more. Turn off the stove.
  12. Gojju / Curry thickens after it cools down.
  13. Mavinakayi Gojju / Raw Mango Curry is ready to be enjoyed with Rice / Chapathi / Dosa / Rotti.
  14. You can refrigerate and use it upto a month.
