- Horse Gram Sprouts / Molake Huruli Kaalu - 1.25 cups
- Coconut (freshly grated) - 1/2 cup
- Rasam Powder - 2.5 tsp
- Tamarind juice - 2 tbsp
- Jaggery powder - 1 tsp
- Salt - as per taste
- Water
- Ghee - 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds / Jeera - 1/4 tsp
- Asoefitida/ Hing - 2 pinch
- Coriander leaves

Preparation:
- Add Horse gram sprouts and sufficient water to a pressure cooker. Pressure cook for 5 - 6 whistles.
- Now add freshly grated Coconut, 1/4 cup cooked Horse gram sprouts, Rasam powder and 3/4 cup water to mixer jar. Grind into smooth paste. Keep aside.
- Add remaining cooked Horse gram along with water and the ground paste to a kadai. Mix well.
- Add Tamarind juice. Allow it to boil.
- Add Salt and cook till it thickens.
- Add Jaggery powder.Mix well.
- If too thick, adjust the consistency by adding water. Keep aside.
- For tempering, add Ghee in a kadai. Add mustard seeds and Cumins seeds.
- Once mustard seeds splutters, add Asoefitida and curry leaves. Saute well.
- Add the tempering to the prepared Huruli Saaru / Rasam. Mix well
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
- Enjoy Huruli kaalu saaru / rasam with Rice or Ragi mudde.
